I first heard about Romeo Foxtrot on Tanya’s blog, Rattle and mum (yes I do LOVE reading other blogs and hers is one of my favorite!)
I clicked the link to Roux’s Romeo Foxtrot website and I was BLOWN AWAY by her jewellery collection. Surely jewellery so affordable cannot be so cheap? I never know what to get certain members of my family for Christmas (hope they aren’t reading) but this was the PERFECT gift for the girls in my life!
So I started chatting to Roux via email, asking her what she thinks my family members would like and she was so helpful! I placed my order, paid and TWO days later the jewellery arrived at my front door!
Damien and I are off to the Portugese Islands tomorrow, on MSC’s Opera cruise, and I cannot wait to wear my Romeo Foxtrot Africa and heart necklaces respectively. Watch this space for pics….
Thanks Roux and Romeo Foxtrot and keep up the amazing work!!
I love encouraging Erin to love books, as I believe it has such great benefits. Books are a wealth of knowledge and if children start loving books at an early age it can only be advantageous to them. We’ve been reading stories to Erin most nights since she turned two (since she’s been in her own big girl bed) and I must say, it’s one of my favourite times of the day!
I first heard about kids book club at a mompreneur breakfast and I loved the idea. They deliver best selling age appropriate educational, activity & reading books to your door each month from R129pm!
Their Book Clubs cover children aged from 0-7 years old. Each month, they hand pick 2-3 books per age group. They cover all book types from touch and feel for babies and toddlers through to activity and reading books for older children.
Last week they sent Erin a pack to enjoy and I was thrilled to receive magazines for myself too (not often you get more than you bargain for)! The pack included a learning activity book with a pen (can be erased) and a book called The School Trip. We’ve been reading this book for the last few evenings and I just love the part where my two and a half year old angel tries to read the book to me!
Added benefits are that you get a discount for your second (R90pm) and your third (R80pm) child. Kids book club also supports the Bokamoso Educational trust by donating R1 a month per subscription to the trust!
I really could not believe all we got for R129 per month and delivery is included too! I would definitely recommend the kids book club to anyone who values the gift of reading as much I as do.
I’m not a huge fan of receiving gifts (frankly, I’d rather people donate to TGF), but I do REALLY LOVE buying gifts and Christmas is my absolute favourite time of year as I get to buy gifts for my entire family!
Some have asked me what I would like for Christmas as we all buy for each other every year, so here’s my list:
Nespresso Pods – we bought 250 when we got our machine but have run out now.
Steak knives – sad to say we’ve never had proper steak knives yet. Now that we eat Ostrich steak once a week, steak knives would be really cool.
Bokashi compost bin – my mum recently got a Bokashi compost bin and swears by it. I hate wastage and figured I can use the liquid compost to make our tiny garden look beautiful
Duvet cover – just love beautiful Egyptian cotton linen
Sorbet voucher – complete gelish addict, want to buy myself Morgan Taylor to take home
War horse – I’d really love tickets to go and watch this show with Damien, I’ve heard it’s amazing!
Coffee press – anyone will do, but Le Creuset has a beautiful one
I attended the second #Jozimeetup on Saturday, that was organized by Laura from Harassed mom. I had attended the first #Jozimeetup earlier this year and LOVED it so much, so decided to attend the second one too.
The first one was more of a social for bloggers/ tweeters/ instagrammers etc. to meet each other. The second one was much more about awareness and how to keep yourself and your children safe on social media. The speakers were Stacey Vee and Hayley Owen. I unfortunately couldn’t hear them speak as Erin wasn’t keen to go to the kids play area and she wasn’t keen to sit still either. But all the other ladies said that they learnt so much from these two very knowledgeable speakers.
The food was DIVINE and as at was hosted at Core, the kids had an amazing iPad and iGames area where they could play. I was bummed that Damien had to work and he couldn’t look after Erin, but my lamb and I had a great time in the gardens of Core and I did manage to chat to a few of my social media / mommy blogger friends.
Here’s some pics of what Erin and I got up to.
Thanks Laura for a really well organized event!
Thank you also so much to everyone who brought goods for The Grace Factory, I value your continued support!
A few months ago I bought Erin a Puo book (Afrikaans), Puo flashcards (Zulu) and a Puo puzzle (Zulu). I truly love their products, as they focus on teaching children South African languages, via fun activities, such a reading, puzzles etc. Now Puo is GIVING back and I LOVE companies that GIVE BACK even more!
This Festive Season they’re asking for your help. Puo’s goal is to deliver 10,000 books as gifts to children who cannot afford them. Only 7% of schools in South Africa have a functioning library. This means that the majority of our children do not enjoy the benefits of storybooks. Your collective pledges will help change the lives of thousands of children by giving them the gift of brand new books, published in South Africa’s 11 official languages. How will we do this?
1. Kindly send them your pledge amount to email@example.com for invoicing purposes
2. They will deliver to these 3 NGO partners: The Shine Centre Nal’ibali Biblionef
3. They will deliver to the children who are beneficiaries of their respective community programmes. Every child should experience the joy and related benefits of reading.
Thank you for making it possible!
